Whitehouse Farm project shortlisted at Building Awards

We have some exciting news! A project designed and delivered by A’Bear & Ball Architects LLP has been selected as a finalist in the Small Project of the Year (up to £5m) category at the 2023 Building Awards

Whitehouse Farm is one of eight projects shortlisted in this category. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 7 November.

The Building Awards has said the number of entries continue to increase every year. And it’s a real honour to have one of our projects be a finalist!

Small Project of the Year

Located in Wantage, Oxfordshire, Whitehouse Farm is a self-build home with a distinctive contemporary farmhouse design and ‘arts & crafts’ references.

It features a sustainable ‘fabric first’ design and respects its sensitive rural setting within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, while taking advantage of scenic views of The Ridgeway.

The project included a large 4,000 sq ft replacement dwellings with outbuildings and equestrian facilities. Overall, this self-build project created an extremely low energy home with unique features, such as a frameless glass bay window, part sedum grass roofs and incredible double height spaces.

An Award-Winning Architecture Practice

A’Bear & Ball Architects has also been shortlisted for Best Architect of the Year at the 2023 OxPropFest Awards. We are really honoured to be one of only two others shortlisted in this prestigious category.

On top of that, Whitehouse Farm was shortlisted for Residential Development of the Year – Small Scheme (fewer than 10 units). The winners will be announced at a black-tie awards evening on 12 September in Oxford.

We are looking forward to the awards events we’re attending this year and look forward to meeting and connecting with other people in the property, architecture and construction sector!

Off the back of this success and to support our increasing residential project portfolio, we are also in the process of growing our team! We are currently hiring an Architectural Technologist/Technical Architect on a full-time basis.
